Maybelline – Fit Me! Concealer in Shade 05

Hi Everyone!

I am back on I Am Serene L! Sharing a little concealer I picked up from Superdrug, which is the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in Shade 05!!!… On a topic of Concealer’s I am on the search for a special concealer that will mask the redness under my eyes, and so far I’ve struggled to find a cheaper alternative to the NARSCreamy Concealer in Vanilla that I’ve used and loved… UNTIL NOW!

So I tried the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer, first of all this is a drugstore alternative to the Designer version, the NARS Creamy Concealer but both are tube versions with a brush applicator for easy application for the concealer… which drew me to try out the Maybelline version that, and also the 1000+ times my best friend had mentioned to me about how incredible this concealer was!!!

I managed to get my hands on Shade 05, which I found in the Marble Arch, LondonSuperdrug store (it’s not even available online) …. and I was looking for my shade for a while as this concealer is popular and always sold out, or doesn’t stock the colour I need!!! The Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer is a gel concealer, with no waxes or fillers to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. The texture however appears cream like, and feels and blends like velvet on the skin (you wont feel like it’s a gel)!!!

The Fit Me! Concealer, first of all it’s a great price for £5.99 it’s an affordable price for a concealer, and it comes in an easy to use tube and applicator brush style for easy application of the concealer onto the under eye area, or any other area to conceal. For me I mainly look for a concealer to hide the redness / dark circles / lines and puffiness under my eyes. So I found that the pigmentation for this concealer to be great for brightening up the area under my eyes, but saying this I’ve managed to achieve an appearance of less redness through 3 layers of applying the Fit me! Concealer and blending it under my eyes. Which is fine, but I really aim to look for a concealer that does the job in one layer of blending. However, I cannot complain too much, as the price point is a more affordable price point and the colour pay off does work after 3 layers of application like I managed.

Back to focusing on more of the positives, I like the colour match for the MaybellineFit Me! Concealer in shade 05, it suits my pale skin tone and definitely helps in adding brightness to my under eye region! I love that through sweat, water and movement the concealer doesn’t crease or create lines … which is something I dislike about concealers generally. This one once you set it with a setting powder will stay put for up to 14 hours! I use my Inglot Freedom System Mattifying Pressed Powder to set my face and under eyes, you can check out my review about the Powder here!

However, another major concern for me is the puffiness and the dark circles and the lines under my eyes which concealers promise to cover, and believe me I have a lot of puffiness, but I’m not suggesting miracles but at least something to mask that puffiness and lines, and this doesn’t do it for me!!! I think it’s time to stop depending on concealers, and find something to treat my under eye region. Do you lovely readers have any suggestions???

Here are some before and after pictures of me applying the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer under my eye under daylight, and how to apply the concealer for the best results!

1) Apply your foundation, this is my under eye before the concealer, and it appears a bit more reddish and the appearance of my blemishes are more evident.

2) Apply the Concealer under your eye in dots using the curved applicator brush in the Fit Me! Concealer.

3) Use your Index fingers to blend in the concealer under your eyes and dab it in gently to prevent creasing.

4) repeat with as many layers of dabbing and blending. This is how it appears after 3 layers of dabbing and blending. I feel it has really reduced the redness and brightened up my eye area!!! It even brought out the hazel-ness in my eyes!!!

5) Finish off with a setting Powder, I’m using my Inglot Powder, and setting my face and under eye region with the Spectrum CollectionsA01 Large Domed Powder Brush.

On the whole, the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer is an affordable priced beauty product, for the everyday concealing & great for quick brightening and touch ups during the day, and would recommend that this one would be carried with you in your handbag :D!!!

  1. I’m not sure is it actually good for the skin but I heard that pressing something cold on the skin under our eyes can help with the puffiness. Some suggest placing a spoon in a refrigerator and holding it pressed against our skin for a few seconds. As I said, I’m not really sure. I know some ladies who swear by those special under the eye creams so maybe one of those can be helpful?

This concealer does sound nice! Very affordable and practical….the shade is lovely as well.

    1. Thanks so much for your tips Ivana, I’ve heard about the spoon under the eye & even the teabag under the eye as well! I might give those a go! I’ve been using the Kiehls avocado eye cream but that only helps with redness, so I need something for the puffiness and lines

This concealer is amazing 🙂 xoxo
