Day Out with Farfetch

I am really excited to talk about my Day out with Farfetch around London last week! I was kindly invited by Daniela, the Content Executive at Farfetch along with two other bloggers, Emsy from Emsypickle Blog & Lela from  LelaLondon Blog to experience a day out around London Bridge visiting the Missoni Colour Exhibition at the Fashion & Textiles Museum, followed by a lovely afternoon tea at the Aqua Shard!

We started our adventure in front of the Fashion & Textiles Museum, where we all gathered and introduced ourselves and then made our way into the Exhibition, to check out the works! I was so excited to check out the Missoni Exhibition as I come from a Fashion & Print textile degree background, and I have always admired the Italian Fashion House that is Missoni and the knitwear behind the Iconic brand!

Ottavio Missoni Loved colour and expressed his works through the electric use of colour & his Iconic zigzag pattern to illuminate the sense that there couldn’t be a colourless life, and urges people to look around them, as there was colour in everything, and that was the inspiration for his bold use of colour!

“I like comparing color to music: only seven notes and yet innumerable melodies have been composed with those seven notes. … How many tones or shades does each color have? An infinite number, just as always endless are the hues and nuances composing a work of art.” – Ottavio Missoni.

The Missoni Art Colour Exhibition showcases over 60 years of fashion alongside paintings by leading 20th century European artists, and previously unseen textile studies, paintings and Arazzi by Ottavio Missoni. The personal artwork of Missoni is mixed with modernist masterpieces, including the work of Sonia Delaunay, Lucio Fontana and Gino Severini, that have influenced Ottavio and Rosita (Ottavio’s Wife) in the development of their signature graphic style.

*|| Afternoon Tea – Aqua Shard ||

Afternoon tea at the Aqua Shard was an incredible experience. Imagine having your favourite cup of tea surrounded by endless 360 degree views of Central London, with Iconic views ranging from Tower Bridge, St Pauls Cathedral, the Walkie Talkie Tower, the River Thames…. and that’s a couple to name a few… The list could go on for a while! :p

Upon arrival we had a couple of minutes to sit down and take in the views, while our table was getting ready for our Afternoon tea & so we sat down and got a chance to talk to Daniela about Farfetch and wanted to understand more about the Fashion House that has a global community of over 400 independent boutiques that sell womenswear, menswear, beauty & Kidswear in one place!

The beauty lover in me discovered that they sell a range of makeup & beauty products working with Space NK in selling brands such as Kevin Aucoin, By Terry & many more brands!!! & is home to many Designer Womenswear and Menswear brands such as Balmain, Chloe, Saint Laurent, Missoni and many many more to only name a few…!!!

After our catch up chat, we managed to finally be seated and we were each handed a lovely Afternoon menu that allowed us a choice of what tea we would like to accompany our selection of finger sandwiches & cakes to follow! I went with the selection of having English Breakfast tea…. The sound of Caramel and chocolate within the tea blend was exciting and that is what sold me on the tea selection! The tea was presented beautifully with a handy & beautifully crafted tea strainer & a beautifully set table!… we proceeded in receiving our finger sandwiches…. from which I tried the Vegetarian & fish options including; the Earl Grey Tea smoked Loch Duart Salmon with cucumber, Oscietra Caviar & dil scented cream sandwich & the Neapolitan Sandwich that had Organic Hen’s egg, smoked curry mayonnaise & Mustard cress. Which were absolutely delicious and very innovative in their ingredients!

We then were greeted by a three tier display of wonderful cakes and scones <3! Which was a masterpiece in its own right! The bottom tier featured a selection of Vanilla and Golden Raisin Scones which were accompanied by a selection of Homemade Jams; A strawberry and Tahitian Vanilla Jam, and a Raspberry and Lemon thyme Jam and Clotted Cream!

The middle tier featured a delicious Passionfruit Cheesecake …. which I must say was my favourite as I adore citrus flavours so this one was a very refreshing dessert! & a British Victoria Sponge cake!

The top tier featured a lovely, Milk Chocolate mousse with a gooey blackcurrant centre which was absolutely amazing. I love the mix of berries and chocolate, so this one was a delight ❤ …. & beautifully crafted Red velvet and dark chocolate shard cake, that displayed 2 triangular chocolate shards on each end of the cake… this one was too beautiful to eat! 😛

I couldn’t leave the shard either without taking a bunch of pictures in the toilet, the interiors are beautiful. Everything was a masterpiece from the Interiors to the views. Imagine Looking out from the sink to uninterrupted views of London….. Absolutely beautiful and the Modern & sleek design is breathtaking!

 We ended the lovely day out with a lovely Missoni Gift that Daniela Kindly handed out to us at the end of the event. We kindly each received a Farfetch bag each that contained a *Missoni handcrafted knitted Scarf, with their iconic Knitted zigzag style! Which I absolutely adore as it tied in perfectly with the Missoni Exhibition we visited earlier in the day & represented the Farfetch company perfectly in terms of showing us the kind of brands they work with.
